Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. When she was five, she moved from London to Oxfordshire where she attended The Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she studied acting as well as singing. When she was 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was spotted by Emma's Oxford Theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's film debut came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film broke all records for the opening weekend and revenues, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. Critics praised the film and the performance of three young stars. The well-known British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma's performance received nominations and later won awards for the movie.
